Sidewalk saga

Here is a picture of the front of our house, taken last summer (almost exactly a year ago; you can see the date stamp is June 26, 2009).

The door we (used to) use is just barely visible in this picture.
It's immediately left of the tree trunk (the right side of the photo), a little covered porch.

My husband and I don't use the front door because we don't have a sidewalk leading up to it, among other things.  But mostly the sidewalk.  We decided it was high time to remedy that fact.  So, last week, the work began.

And now, the finished product!  I've got to work on my flowerbeds!
